Description of Repair unable to perform
Correctly program the instrument cluster.
Description of Information not available
The vehicle in question is having an instrument cluster replaced for a current draw on the battery . The vehicle had no codes before replacement. The instrument cluster was replaced and a PMI performed. Vehicle started and ran with no codes after PMI. The instrument cluster was then checked with module programming and a later update was found to be available. Instrument cluster was then programmed with the update. After the reprogramming was completed the check engine light was with codes U0300:00:27-Internal Control Module Software Incompatibility, P0600:00:A7-Serial Communication Link and P060A:00:D0-Internal Control Module Monitoring Processor Performance showing as current in the PCM. The original instruement cluster was reinstalled in the vehicle and all codes cleared. Vehicle started and ran with no codes. To verify that the problem is definitely with the calibration, the original instrument cluster was updated using module reprogrammming. After the update the check engine light was on with the above mentined codes as current. Original and replacement Instrument clusters are the same part numbers and filenames before any programming was done. Below is the info cut from the log file. Original module: (IPC) Part Number = BL34-10849-RE (IPC)_FILENAME = BL34-14C026-BF Update Info: Module Update : IC Latest Assembly PN : BL34-10849-RG Latest F188: BL34-14C026-BG
Description of steps taken to obtain information (help/contact function on website, websites, etc.)
Vehicle was searched on Ford's website with no usable information found. An E-mail was sent to the contact us e-mail address. An auto-reply was recieved.Nothing further. A call was placed to the IDS support line. The person who answered the phone was unable to help as they only work on software issues. Isn't that what this is? Tim Hustin was also contacted directly at his phone number as he was so helpful with my last NASTF complaint. There was no return call from him as well.

follow up from Ford: he vehicle is still having issues, but we (Rick and my Team) are still working on the issues. This one is very strange and seems isolated to one vehicle. I will provide a final status once all support is done. Thank You, Tim Huspen Service Action & Market Interface SupervisorDonny Seyfer - 08/15/2018
Rick posted this information on iATN just in case this was a problem that could cause others to take a vehicle out of service. NASTF will wait for follow up from him on the outcome.
