This message is in response to the Service Information Feedback request filed to determine why the ECM reprogram data is only available for 2004 and later Infiniti vehicles for use with a J2534 tool? The technician filing the complaint had a 2002 Infiniti that he wanted to reprogram using the J2534 tool. Nissan North America (NNA) (Mike Tani) has been in contact with the technician to understand the model information required, and will contact him again to fully explain this response. Briefly, the OEMs are required to have 2004 MY and later reprogramming data available for use with J2534 tools. NNA complies with this rule. NNA makes some reprogramming data available to our dealers and the aftermarket for use on the Nissan/Infiniti Diagnostic tool (CONSULT-II) for vehicles of earlier model years than 2004. This earlier data is in ASCII format and compatible with CONSULT-II but not J2534. J2534 requires Binary data which Nissan now uses for 2004 MY and after. CONSULT-II is available to the aftermarket (although on backorder currently). Data for CONSULT-II is available on the web site along with J2534 data. Regards, Nissan North America, Inc.
