Description of Repair unable to perform
The vehicle mentioned above comes into an independent repair shop with its 8 speed transmission in limp mode and storing a code 420341 in the TCM. I could not find code definitions anywhere (alldata, Mithchell, etc). I send an e-mail on the BWMTIS website asking if this information is available. Later that day I receive an answer that says "it is not on there" with no other explanation. What I am after is a complete code definition list of these 6 digit transmission DTCs. I believe this information should be made available to aftermarket technical information sites or I don't mind paying $30.00 as long as I can get what I need.

The code 420341 is not a valid code for a BMW. Although BMW is using six digit codes in some systems, code 420341 is not listed. BMW does have details for the valid six digit codes in their service information. Also, on the BMW website there is a statement: "BMW troubleshooting charts, guides and aids for diagnosis are integrated into BMW service tools. Stand-alone guides for troubleshooting are not available via this website". BMW is integrating some repair information in their tool interface.
