Description of Repair unable to perform
Chrysler diagnostic tool and reprogramming software. Purchased a Micro Pod from ** Tools one year ago. Now being told that I need to purchase an annual subscription to keep my Micro Pod from timing out.
Description of Information not available
Annual Subscription to keep a tool from timing out. Was never told when I purchased this tool from ** Tools that an annual subscriptions for the Micro Pod was necessary.
Description of steps taken to obtain information (help/contact function on website, websites, etc.)
Received email from ** Tools recently explaining I needed to purchase an annual license to keep my Micro Pod from timing out. When I purchase this tool from ** Tools a year ago there was no conversation about having to purchase a license every year to keep the Micro Pod working. The only conversation at that time was I would need to purchase an annual subscription to the Chrysler Tech Authority. ** Tools explained to me at that time, that one of the perks of being an ** Tool customer was they would sell an annual license to Tech Authority way below the $1800 price as ** Tools was the largest distributor of Chrysler tools and subscriptions. This is why I purchase the Micro Pod from ** Tools verses their competitors. Now I am being told that I have to pay $1445 for the annual license and then the $1800 for the Tech Authority subscription.
Other Comments or Concerns
I now have a tool that will time out unless I purchase a yearly license. I own several J-2534 devices and now it looks like I would have been better off to not purchase the Micro Pod from ** Tools as the three day subscription works fine with the J-2534 devices I already own and they never time out!!!!!

There has been considerable concern with the purchase/use of the MicroPod II, Tech Authority subscriptions and how they inter-relate. There are two separate aspects to this SIR that need to be addressed: (I) NASTF and pricing discussions (II) FCA wiTech, SAE J2534, Tech Authority license and subscriptions. NASTF cannot discuss pricing due to U.S Antitrust laws. For the NASTF pricing policy go to http://www.nastf.org/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageid=3866. For a detailed explanation of FCA wiTech go to http://www.nastf.org/FCAwiTECH.
