Description of Repair unable to perform
Need to get VIDA or VADIS running.

Description of steps taken to obtain information (help/contact function on website, websites, etc.)
I have been a VADIS user for 2 years. Recently, Volvo Changed from the VADIS system to the VIDA system. Have submitted many help requests to volvotechinfo.com over the past 3 weeks. We pay for a full subscription for the volvo program (not cheap, about $8000 per year). For the last 2 weeks, we have been unable to access VADIS (expired) or VIDA (can't run it). I have to get one of these systems running- Volvo has, basicly, put me out of business over this issue. I can't stress strongly enough that I am a full paying member for the VADIS/VIDA system. My last contact with volvo was help request 8944. We had VIDA partially running, but could not get into the information tab for anything but parts. Volvo indicated that if my XP user name has a space in it,VIDA won't work. I have un installed and re installed VIDA (takes hours), and loaded the update 3. Now we can't get into VIDA at all. Can't get volvo to answer my help requests in the same week that I file them. My IT support company has spent many hours installing VIDA, now they are trying to re- install VIDA, and it's not working. I've spent close to $1000 with my IT company, trying to get VIDA running. It's not running. We need help with this issue, ASAP!

Installing a new computer application can be a challenging time. To minimize the frustration that comes with this challenge Volvo provided a Certification Agent in advance of the VIDA Launch to ensure compatibility between VIDA and our user's computers. In addition Volvo provided its users with detailed installation instructions which were shipped to you with your VIDA DVD. To supplement the installation instructions has also provided updated installation information on our website www.volvotechinfo.com. This information can be found under VIDA Launch Message Board as well as in our Support/FAQ section. Although the instructions are lengthy, all steps are required to complete the installation successfully. Although during your installation you experienced some error messages, these errors could have been avoided by closely following Volvo's installation procedures. The error you received trying to run the Update3.exe was caused by Internet Explorer being opened while trying to run the update. When the VIDA update opens it states "Please logout of all VIDA sessions and close down all Internet Explorer windows before you continue with the installation." The VIDA installation instructions, Step 2 page 9, state "If you use a User ID and password to log on to Windows, it must only contain the following characters: a-z, A-Z and 0-9 with no spaces, no other characters are allowed. Certain parts of the installation can be disturbed." This too created an error for you after you completed your installation and attempted to access service information. Thank you for following our procedures and filing a Help Request, found on www.Volvotechinfo.com, to report your installation issues. By utilizing the Help Request system we were able to assist you in resolving your installation issues and get you up and running with VIDA. Thank you for the opportunity to address your concerns. Sincerely, Service Operations Specialist Volvo Cars of North America, LLC (This issue was resolved the day in which it was received, but posted on 1/18/06)
