Description of Repair unable to perform
The GM TIS2WEB website accessed via AC Delco TDS is currently setup to "time out" after approximately 2 hours. In general this has been fine. However General Motors MYLINK and INTELLINK radios require programming utilizing as USB memory stick and often takes LONGER THAN 2 hours to download. This is because the files needed to update the radio firmware to remedy faults covered in various GM bulletins can require downloads as much as 3-4 GIGABYTES!! (there's been lots a "issues with the new Mylink/Intellink systems since their inception in 2013MY) However I have been unable to help a few customers with these radios with cars and trucks that are off-warranty BECAUSE the TIS2WEB website "times out" even though the SPS download (to the USB memory stick) is active. The GM dealers "workaround" this issue as HM provides them with quarterly DVDs that contain MyLink/Intellink firmware and calibrations that are stored locally and they don't need to wait 2-3 hours for these files to download off TIS2WEB. PLEASE REQUEST THAT GENERAL MOTORS INCREASE THE "TIME-OUT" FACTOR ON TIS2WEB/SPS ACCESSED VIA AC DELCO TDS TO A MINIMUM OF 4 HOURS! Because of this oversight on GMs part not only was I forced to send my loyal customers to a GM Dealer, but I burned up 10-12 of time trying to get a successful radio calibration download when I finally discovered that I was not experiencing Internet issues, but GM was terminating my session on their end due to this "time-out" feature

-Repeated tries but files that take 2+ hours to download consistently fail and indicate an Internet issue (falsely) - Called AC Delco Techconnect and they confirmed "that's the way it works" with no ability to resolve at that level

Because of the nature of this issue, it proved complicated to address. The vehicle was needed for continued testing and/or the clients PC to run diagnostics on USB programming. GM engineers were working with the client to find a failure. In this case, the vehicle could not be re-acquired and the client did not respond to GM engineers for diagnostics. This SIR is closed, but may be reopened by the client if requested.
