Paul Soar - 06/30/2015 Typically when relearning new Intelligent Access (IA) keys, it requires that you have at least one working key. In this particular case the client had a push-button start, no working IA keys and the IDS tool would request the ignition to be turned "On" to program the new IA key. According to Ford, if you encounter this issue, and if the vehicle is equipped with a push-button start, you should continue the process with the ignition turned "Off". The following instructions are provided from Ford and also within the Integrated Diagnostic Software tool: Turn Ignition to the ON position. Note: To perform the Program Additional Ignition Key function, you have to gain security access using the additional ignition key. If the vehicle is equipped with a push-button start, continue with testing even if the ignition is turned off.
