Description of Repair unable to perform
"Blank" TCM installed and transmission shop requested me to program. After arriving and setting up a CardaqM to interface the vehicle to a new laptop, (Windows 8 with x64) I noticed that the Nissan website didn't include Windows 8 but did 7.1. I called DrewTech support to see if I could use Windows 8 with their tool. The support person (Dave, I think) told me that to try it as I thought the two Windows platforms were "close". When Dave asked me what I was trying to do, I told him that I had two calls to program two 2006 Pathfinders for two transmission repair shops. He told me that Nissan didn't have the capability for the aftermarket to program those "blank" TCMs at this time. He did say tha it would be sometime in August before the aftermarket would be able to do this. Seems to me (knowing Nissan's reputation in the aftermarket repair) that this is unacceptable and more of Nissan's locking out the aftermarket.

Concerning the issue with Windows operating system, the NERS software is not compatible with Windows 8, it will only work up to Windows 7 as stated on the website. With concern to "blank" programming, the rear wheel drive, 5 speed automatic transmissions cannot yet be programmed using NERS. Nissan plans to have the RWD, 5sp issue resolved with an August release. All other blank modules can be programmed using NERS. With that said, the CONSULT III plus will program the blank RWD, 5 speeds currently, just will not work with NERS at this time.
