Unable to order keys. I am in the process of obtaining a LSID but have recently talked to multiple dealers who have told me that even with LSID that they will not sell me keys. Other parts yes but keys no even if all the Mercedes TRP steps are followed. I have reviewed the video posted by NASTF of Dan Selke describing the TRP process and stating that keys can be ordered. Yet it seems every dealer has been trained otherwise. I know this ticket is not 100% proper because there is no specific issue currently but when asking the question of multiple dealers it seems they are not following the Mercedes TRP guidelines as explain by Dan Selke in his speach. They immediate response is no keys can be sold to independents and that all cars must be towed to the dealer irregardless of what is stated in the TRP document

Please work with Mercedes to hopefully communicate to hopefully send out clarification on the process needed to order keys for independents it can be a major burden on the independents as well as our customers.

The current policy for getting MB keys: 1. NASTF VSPs across the USA may purchase (through the California Key Ordering process) the mechanical "shop key" (usually $192) for most post-2008MY MBs sold in the USA, which is mailed for receipt usually within two business days. 2. NASTF VSPs across the USA may act as an agent of the vehicle owner to purchase the programmable electronic "customer key" from an MBUSA franchise dealer with delivery and programming performed by the dealer technician either on the dealership site or remotely by a technician contracted by the VSP. This request is considered invalid because it does not attach to a particular vehicle/VIN.
