If purchased from Nissan new this tcm comes programmed but the reman units are blank. Its not just this vehicle, I'd like to have a reliable source to obtain flash codes per vin for future needs.

OEM explained that Nissan and Infiniti do not set flash file applicability by VIN. Other OEMs utilize VIN, but not Nissan or Infiniti. Nissan and Infiniti flash files, (either blank programming or reprogramming) are based on the internal part number of the ECU. In order to purchase a file, you must obtain the internal part number by reading it with a GST or CONSULT. In either www.nissan-techinfo.com or www.infiniti-techinfo.com, you would then enter that part number in required field and if a flash file update is available, it would be displayed and available for purchase.

OEM and tech agree that this is likely a defective parts issue. TCM replaced by transmission rebuilder could not be read by OEM tool.
