Description of Repair unable to perform
Installed new ecu. Tried to reprogram found that the engine side of the module will program but no transmission information is programed. This results in a P1603 and a U0101. The Chrysler programing interface says that it is going to program both the ecm and tcm but never goes past the ecm section. It does state that the process is complete but if I restart the programing interface it shows the current part numbers for the ecm tcm. 05187722Ac is what it shows for the ecm ???:I/u00fa is what it shows for the tcm. If I try to download a file by part number for the tcm it states that no downloads have been issued for that file.
Description of Information not available

Description of steps taken to obtain information (help/contact function on website, websites, etc.)
Contacted witechsupport with no reply. Contacted snap-on diagnostics with no reply. Contacted drewtech the maker of my passthru pro II and their reply was that there is a known issue with pt cruisers and Chrysler knows about it. Not sure why this isn't brought to subscribers attention prior to trying to reprogram customers vehicles.
Other Comments or Concerns
The closest dealer is over 60 miles away and by trying to reprogram the customers ecu I have disabled the vehicle. I have been reprograming vehicles since the day they released the pass thru pro II. I find it really hard to believe that this is still so problematic with Chrysler vehicles. I thought that there was a law passed that this information was supposed to be available to the independent shops, but it seems that there is no accountability to be had by the manufacturers.

OEM contacted client but unable to resolve issue. Client to ship ECU to OEM for engineering evaluation. Awaiting analysis.

OEM analyzed failed ECU and discovered an isolated event relating to this yr/make/model. Application software was released to on April 29 and a repaired, reprogrammed ECM was returned to the client.
