In response to your inquiry concerning Key Code Information for GM vehicles, the vehicle owners identity must be validated for security reasons which are of concern to many entities in and around the auto industry. For those reasons, GM excersizes the following policy to address the customers needs on GM vehicles not equipped with On Star. 1. The Customer contacts the customer service center toll free phone number which can be found in the owners documentation upon vehicle delivery, in their owners manual, on the GM websites, or by contacting a local dealer service center. 2. The customer service center verifies the vehicle owner identity and vehicle ownership which is supported by data acquired during a new or used vehicle delivery process at the time of the vehicle delivery. 3. After the identity and ownership has been validated, the information required to deliver a replacement key is then provided. If the owner and vehicle can not be verified, the owner must provide the relevant information to a dealer service center in form satisfactory to validate the ownership of the vehicle. As you can see, the vehicle security as well as the owner investment and personal information are regarded as priorities. In an effort to maintain the confidentiality of the customer information and investment, the above policy and procedure has been established. Thank you for your inquiry, and I hope I was able to assist you in this matter. General Motors Service and Parts Operation Grand Blanc, MI
