Description of Repair unable to perform
ACU coding of a new SRS control module.
Description of Information not available
ACU coding number not available as an aftermarket customer. Vehicle inquiry tab has been removed from hmaservice website for aftermarket customers. GIT America was allegedly removed the automatic internet retrieval functionality from the new Value Edition software.
Description of steps taken to obtain information (help/contact function on website, websites, etc.)
SRS control module was replaced due to a collision. I have been using a GDS lite OEM scan tool for the last two years, however GIT America has updated to Value Edition software. After updating the GDS lite software to the Value edition, automatic internet retrieval of the ACU coding number is no longer functional and the number must be entered manually. James from GIT tech support explained that information was available on the vehicle inquiry tab of the hmaservice website. He then explained that tab had been removed for aftermarket customers and that I should contact Hyundai Tech Line at 1-800-325-6604. After contacting Tech support, I was told GIT America removed that functionality (internet retrieval of the acu coding number) from the value edition and there is nothing they (hyundai techline) can do for me. I paid 8000.00 for a factory GDS scan tool two years ago and have had this function (acu coding) available until recently when I was told by Simon at GIT America that all aftermarket customers must now use GDS Value edition. GIT America is stating this is a problem for and Hyundai Techline says this is a problem on GIT America's end.
Other Comments or Concerns

Hyundai responded directly to complainant: As per our phone conversion on 08/10/2011; The SRS C/M ACU coding process using the GDS connected to the internet is not always successful even for our dealerships and the process for entering the ACU code is assisted by entering it manually. This is a matter that is currently under review in order to determine a process for enabling access to this type of information more readily to include the after-market. Your patience is appreciated. In the future, if you need assistance with ACU coding information you may contact me directly.
