My concern is twofold. First is GM is restructuring the warranty process into a Global Warranty System that will make the VIS information which contains the RPO codes much more difficult for dealership service technicians to obtain during the reprogramming of modules and the use of service information in diagnosis and repair of vehicles. Second is that the aftermarket does not have the ability to look up vehicle build information other than vehicle tags which often are missing from vehicles. I would suggest that GM make available in service information the ability to look up only the RPO codes by VIN to streamline the service processes. (No origins, warranty claim information, or customer information. Only the 3 digit RPO codes) By doing so I would expect warranty diagnosis times to reduce some by making needed information available for the dealership technicians. The repair process times would be reduced for dealers and aftermarket as information would not need to be sought out. And customer support calls for reprogramming should be reduced by technicians who don't currently have access and mistakingly enter the wrong data during reprogramming.
