Received call from Alamo Rental Car roadside assistance to make keys for 2005 Bonneville. Alamo provided incorrect key code. Customer called Pontiac roadside assistance from our cell phone and the customer was referred to closest Pontiac dealer. They would not release the key code to us even though we are a Cross Country vendor. We followed the procedures outlined by Cross Country for obtaining key codes but we were denied access. Customer was in a hurry because they needed to get to the airport to catch a flight.

This will have reference to your recent inquiry regarding the unavailability of key code information for a 2005 Pontiac owned by Alamo Rental Cars. Please be advised GM Roadside Assistance can only release key codes if they are able to verify that the caller is the owner of the vehicle. It appears in this case that since the vehicle is owned by Alamo, the caller was ineligible to receive key codes. While we realize this policy may cause some limited customer inconvenience, we must do all that we can to protect our customers from vehicle theft.
