Description of steps taken to obtain information (help/contact function on website, websites, etc.)
I would like to purchase the Nissan Consultant 3; however, Nissan will only sell this tool with the B card. This will not allow me to service my clients as I will not be able to program keys. The only card that will allow me to do this would be the A card. Nissan is locking out everyone except dealers. I have a LSID # required to program keys. Why would Nissan not allow after market technicians access to this tool ? This is an outright illegal act by a manufacturer to lockout the aftermarket service techs. Nissan replies to John: After reviewing your email, it appears that somewhere you received some miss-information. Nissan does not restrict the purchase of the type A card to security professionals who are currently registered in the NASTF registry. And a of the usage report for our security profession section of our website does not indicate any entries made by you. Please provide me your LSID# and any equipment order contact information you have and I will investigate the status of your request to purchase our "A" card.

Nissan response: This issue has been resolved. We confirmed the requestor (John) is a registered security professional with a valid locksmith ID. John and our equipment supplier have been advised that he is authorized to purchase the equipment needed to program vehicle keys. John would not provide any details as to the source of his incorrect information. Our records indicate he had made no attempt to purchase the equipment, nor entered the Nissan Service Information website to review the process for becoming an approved security professional. Nissan has a process in place with our equipment supplier whereas all requests to purchase security related equipment is forwarded to me for review and approval. I believe this process to be operating correctly. Somewhere miscommunication occurred. But if John is not willing to provide the details, we must assume his sources were not part of our process.

When I went to the Nissan web site to purchase the tool the link takes you to the Tech Mate SPX site. I called the 1 800 266 2001 number was told the A card for security was not available. I did not order the tool because it is too much money if you can not do keys. I think SPX Tech Mate has miscommunication Because I have an LSID # I did not go to Nissan website and check out the security professional info. Thank you for the help in this matter.
