Description of Repair unable to perform
I am attempting to program a 2006 Chevrolet Corvettte PCM and am unable to program it due to a problem with J2534 and GMLAN (CAN). I have reported this to my SPS supplier (Ease Diagnostics - Dan Lodini 570-587-7080) on numerous GMLAN vehicles and it has been forwarded to GM which responds that they are working on it. This has been going on for at least 6 months that I know of and I firmly believe that it never worked in the first place. This problem affects all GMLAN (CAN) vehicles produced from 2003 to current. Due to the fact that the dealers are charging almost three times what they charge for non-CAN vehicles, it is apparent to me that they have known about this problem for some time and also know that GM is not in any hurry to repair it. This inability to program these vehicles is in direct violation of EPA regulations requiring all vehicles to be J2534 programmable. I would like to know why this has not been rectified and when there is going to be a solution ofr it.

Update: Engineering is working with Mr. Layton to ensure that the issue is resolved.Mary Hutchinson - 6/5/2007 7:22:36 AM
Mr. Layton was contacted to confirm software and hardware configurations. Mr. Layton was unable to retrieve the VIN using his J-2534 tool and TIS DVD software. We supplied Mr. Layton with a complimentary two week access to TIS2Web in an effort to determine if there was an unknown issue with the DVD software. Mr. Layton was still unable to request the VIN. The problem is believed to be an issue with the vehicle electrical architecture, wiring, modules, etc?. Through the process it was discovered that the vehicle has a "Branded" title (salvage).
